Theatrix is UNL’s student run theater company. Since 1988 it has been giving students the opportunity to experiment and create theater surrounded by their peers. Theatrix is what convinced me to pursue theater as a career and will forever hold a special place in my heart. Despite the many, many extra hours, I always come back to these amazing productions.

My Work Here

  • As my first stage manager position in college, this was an amazing learning opportunity. I was introduced to rehearsal reports, production meetings, and so much more. I learned how to utilize an assistant and call a show, all while tracking the way too many 83 props.

  • Being my first production since high school, I was very excited to get back into management. In this position, I blocked the scene changes, tracked props, and lead the backstage crew.

  • I was convinced to join the Theatrix council as the Assistant Production Manager for the 23-24 season. This meant I was required to learn about how the production process above the stage manager. I attended production meetings, took detailed notes, learned to create a budget, create schedules, and so much more.

  • This was the year I took the position of Production Manager on the Theatrix Board. This means I made the budget, reserved the rooms, lead production meetings, built the schedule, found crew members, and other tasks as necessary. All this work was worth it to keep producing amazing shows. This job required me to consider theatre from a wider perspective and understand that every position has a domino effect on the entire company.

  • This Theatrix show includes more instances of complicated stage combat than had been done in recent years. At the suggestion of UNL’s resident Fight Master, Ian Borden, I was asked to fill the role of fight choreographer. This unique position required me to design and direct the fight sequences of the show in a way that looked real and kept everyone safe.
