Local theaters are vital to the community and I am happy to say that I did a share of management here. Working in these settings always brought out the best of people all working together for the joy of the performance. I have been fortunate enough to work with the Lincoln Community Playhouse, Nebraska Communities Playhouse, Angels Theatre Company, and the Flatwater Shakespeare Company.
My Work Here
-
This musical production at Lincoln Community Playhouse was my first proper step into community theatre. My responsibilities mainly consisted of props tracking and operating the fly rail during performances. During the second weekend of performances, my fellow ASM was sick and I had to quickly absorb their portion of the work and train someone new to cover what I couldn’t.

It was suggested that I apply to this production by the Musical Director, who was also the MD for Sweeny Todd. As my first musical in the stage manager position, this production at Nebraska Communities Playhouse was full of learning opportunities. Having a considerable overlap in cast with Sweeney Todd, I was able to focus less on actor management and more on the considerable technical elements. This show had large rolling set pieces and complex light cues that required precise calling.
-
This annual short play festival, hosted by the Angels Theatre Company, consisted of many pieces with different directors and actors for each piece. I was required to create a room schedule to satisfy the needs of each show. I also needed to track props and scene transitions while keeping on a tight tech schedule. Very detailed notes helped to make calling this simple.

This outdoor production by the Flatwater Shakespeare Company needed much flexibility. Performing in a space originally designed as stable meant unique blocking requirements and detailed note taking. This also meant the set and audience seating had to be reset every afternoon before the show.

This position with Angels Theater Company is coming up in March. More info to come!
